Oliver Kahn admits it won’t be difficult to change Bayern Munich’s management style according to his ideas
Former Bayern Munich CEO Oliver Kahn admits managing a world-class club like the Bavarians is a tough job but is happy to have had the chance to do it for a short period of time, Sports Illustrated reported on Monday.
Kahn played for Bayern Munich from 1994 to 2008. He returned to the club’s board in 2019, before being promote to CEO from Karl-Heinz Rummenigge in the summer of 2021, but was sack on 27 May along with sporting director Hasan Salihamidzic.
Asked if he felt relieve after being ousted as Bayern CEO, Kahn replied: ‘No, I want to take responsibility for this and I am very happy to do so.’
‘What I want to do is to bring together the economics, sport and politics of a world-class club. It’s exactly what I want to do. For me, it’s an internal duty to give back to the club where I played for 14 years. But in a world like Munich, it’s very difficult to initiate the necessary changes and follow a new path. ‘
‘Today I am still convince that the changes we have made are absolutely right for Bayern,’ the 55-year-old former goalkeeper added.
‘There’s a good saying in business: ‘Culture eats strategy for breakfast.’ In other words, a company’s culture is always stronger than any strategy, no matter how promising it may seem. I’m aware of this.’
‘But Bayern is a political club and forces are working from UFABET different directions. Keeping these things under control is the biggest challenge.’
